Cheese-making can be traced as far back as 6000 BC. It was said that nomads carrying milk in bags made out of animal stomachs discovered the principles of cheese-making. These traditional principles have remained the same across the world for thousands of years.
About the workshop
Now, in this 5-hour workshop, Laurent shares the ancestral traditions of cheese-making with you. He explains and demonstrates the different steps of making the most popular cheese types. You can make a small fresh cheese, customise its flavour ingredients and bring it home. Taste different cheeses made by Laurent in Singapore and discuss the many ways to enjoy them while sipping from a selection of wines.

About Laurent Baron
Founder of Singular Matters, Laurent has always been a food enthusiast believing that food is an important element that brings people together.
Laurent pursued a successful career as biologist and biotechnologist in France, UK, Canada and China. He was born and raised in Anjou, a region in the Loire Valley in the west part of France. He comes from a long heritage of farmers and wine makers, and spent a big part of his childhood on his grandparent’s farms or at his parent’s 15th century windmill.
Upon moving to Singapore in 2020 with the COVID pandemic raging worldwide, Laurent considered to follow a more meaningful path closer to natural elements and where he could have a direct impact locally. Cheese lover and home cheesemaker for some time, Laurent was surprised by the interest and extremely positive feedback he received when sharing his cheese creations with Singaporeans. Laurent believes that cheesemaking is a great bridge between his scientific background and his heritage.
