ART SG at Art Porters Gallery
Come and visit the 'Flutterby Mansion' at FR03!
In case you missed the first two days, this is your chance! The Art Porters Gallery has 3 booths at the Marina Bay Sands Expo for ART SG.
Flutterbye Mansion by The ArtHitects (Gary Carsley and Renjie Teoh) at FR03
For the very first time and specifically for ART SG, the ArtHitects, artist Gary Carsley and Singaporean born architect Renjie Teoh, both based in Gadigal country (Sydney), have produced one of their Perspectival Scenic Panoramas (通景画) as a sumptuous printed wallpaper. Styled after the mansion, a building typology new to their practice, Flutterbye Mansion is an immersive, multi-perspectival architectural illusion that wraps around the booth (FR03, in the FUTURES sector of the fair) and encloses the viewer.
Come and see their work at FR03 !
Bottle #21 by Sue Gray at the NEW/ NOW sector.
‘Bottle #21’ is a unique work that is based on the ever-iconic Coca-Cola glass bottle. For her first ever exhibition, in 2021, Sue Gray had displayed the original bottles on the shelves. The now large-scale paintings of bottles are all the same glorious large size, signifying that, like humans, they are equal in their magnificently unique beauty and power – and, just like humans, they are also fragile.
The Truth Lies in Fact by Yanyun Chen and Alex Scollay at the FILM sector
False Truths grows from Yanyun Chen’s previous exhibitions Flower Flights (2018) and Chasing Flowers (2016) retaining the classical charcoal aesthetics of her past works. However, what has infiltrated are artificial plastic and silk flowers, fake flowers that will not die, mingling with withering real flowers. The exhibition asks the viewer to consider the difficulties in defining truth from fiction, fact from representation, in response to the passing of the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Bill (POFMA) in Singapore on 8th of May, 2019.
