Back to the Wine Roots is an immersive tasting and networking evening organised by So Chic and the French Chamber of Commerce Singapore, in partnership with People of Wine. The concept is simple and compelling: forget the usual sniff-and-swirl routine. This is a journey through the ancient terroirs and radical modern spirits that are quietly reshaping the wine world, from the cratered clay valleys of Georgia to the rugged peaks of Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.

The evening spotlights four remarkable producers who are rewriting the rules without forgetting where they came from. Bedoba (Georgia) takes you back 8,000 years with Saperavi grapes fermented in traditional clay Qvevri — a technique that is now the darling of the natural wine scene. Château Marsyas (Lebanon) delivers resilience in a glass: solar intensity balanced by stunning limestone freshness. Altugnac (France) proves that even the Languedoc can reinvent itself — high-altitude, precise, full of lift. And Testalonga (South Africa) brings the ultimate disruption: raw, skin-contact, zero-additive wines that spark conversation from the first sip. Expect one wild card outsider pour to round out the evening.
