On Saturday 7 March at 6 PM, our partner Alliance Française de Singapour invites you to embark on A Sparkling Journey | Champagne Tasting – The Veuve Effect, an inspiring workshop that blends history, empowerment and the art of Champagne.

In 17th and 18th-century France, women were rarely given the space to lead. And yet, in the Champagne region, something extraordinary happened. Widowed women, les veuves, stepped into power. Names like Veuve Clicquot, Veuve Pommery and Veuve Henriot did more than preserve their family houses; they transformed them into legendary empires, redefining both the wine industry and the role of women in business.

This tasting is more than a lesson in terroir — it is a tribute to boldness. Guests will uncover the secrets of the méthode champenoise, explore how grape varieties, ageing and dosage influence taste, and of course, savour three glasses of Champagne along the way.

Hosted in the elegant setting of Alliance Française, this experience perfectly reflects the institution’s mission: celebrating French culture in all its forms, from literature to language, and yes, to the most iconic of French wines.
