Pastries & Porcelain: A Creative So Chic Atelier

On Tuesday 20 May, a small group of guests gathered for Pastries & Porcelain, an exclusive So Chic atelier designed to awaken the senses and celebrate the elegance of French savoir-faire. The event took place in the tranquil, light-filled ceramic studio of French artist Karine Lafon — a hidden gem nestled in a peaceful corner of Singapore.
Crafting with Clay, Creating with Care
Each participant had the chance to select two to three delicate porcelain creations designed by Karine herself — from trinket dishes to organic-shaped plates and cups — before diving into the artistic process.
With her expert guidance, the guests learned to sand and smooth their pieces, gently remove dust, and then decorate them with colours and patterns of their choice.
Karine took the time to explain each step of the process and accompanied everyone throughout, helping them give shape to their own vision while discovering the meditative rhythm of working with clay.
Their creations are now being glazed and fired, and will be ready to collect within a week.
To complement this creative journey, the experience was elevated by a selection of elegant mini tartelettes from Caro Patisserie, ranging from tangy lemon to rich raspberry and chocolate.
Served alongside a glass of chilled Minuty rosé, the pairing added a refined, indulgent touch — a celebration of French taste in every sense.
Every guest left with a So Chic goodie bag and the joyful anticipation of soon collecting their personalised porcelain artworks. The feedback was unanimously enthusiastic, with participants expressing how much they appreciated the calm atmosphere, the opportunity to disconnect, and the chance to learn something new in such an inspiring setting.
