Secret Places in Singapore by Ariane Nabarro

In this article, you’ll find tips from our tour guide Ariane Nabarro on how to discover Singapore in a different way, with some unexpected addresses!

#1 Mama Diam

In Ariane’s words, Mama Diam is the place to be if you want an exceptional evening!

When you arrive, the facade is reminiscent of a Mama Shop that used to be found at the bottom of all the HDBs. The decoration is absolutely sublime, everything in the exterior is reminiscent of Singapore as it was a few decades ago. The magazines, the old 10 cent telephone, the toys… A successful nostalgia operation for this sublime facade.

However, as soon as you go through the secret door (we promise not to spoil its location) you arrive in another world. A crazy modern speak-easy, where the drinks and dishes are each more creative than the last.

This skilful blend of modernity and tradition, which is the DNA of the place, can even be found in the flavours that make up the sensational menu of this place!

So Chic recommends: The Chai Tarik Brew, a traditional whiskey-scented tea served cold in a tin of condensed milk and sugar!

#2 Heap Seng Long

“Very local, when I pass by North Bridge road, I have to stop there. Nostalgic atmosphere guaranteed, we’re bathed in the Singapore of the 90s. Time really seems to have stood still in this Kopitiam”.

We don’t even need to say any more, Ariane has totally captured the essence of this timeless place. You absolutely must go there and discover it for yourself!

And if these pretty words haven’t convinced you, then take a look at these photos and go for it!

#3 – Le Petit Paris

A Parisian cafe in the heart of Singapore, that’s what Le Petit Paris has to offer. With absolutely sublime desserts and breathtaking dishes, you will rediscover the charm of Parisian cuisine. If you want authentic French cuisine, this is the place to go!

This sublime hotel, a masterpiece of architecture and modernity in the heart of orchard road, is a true marvel. From the first to the last floor, it is brimming with marvels that we can’t wait for you to discover.

Faced with a monument of such splendour, So Chic and Ariane Nabarro have joined forces to offer you a unique experience, a guided tour of the Pan Pacific Orchard followed by an exclusive cocktail in the hotel’s sky bar, Florette.
